The Edgewater Animal Shelter places the health and safety of its employees, animals, and customers above all else. We have been monitoring the impact of COVID-19 and urge all in the community to follow the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and your local government regarding travel.

The Edgewater Animal Shelter will be open on Friday, March 20, 2020, for those who have appointments only. Only one person can enter the building at a time and no one is allowed in animal care or veterinary areas.

Our facility already has strict protocols in place for cleanliness and animal care. We have increased those and the frequency of cleaning and sanitization in and around the building.

We will be closed to the public Saturday, March 21st until it is determined that it is safe to reopen. We will have staff onsite to care for our current residents, respond to critical messages and work in conjunction with animal control. Those people that have made arrangements to pick up animals for foster, adoption or grooming on Saturday can continue to do so. Please call first and remain in the parking lot until you are assisted by a staff member.

Donations can be left at the gate during daylight hours. Our most critical need is always Iams Mini-Chunks Dog Food and Non-Clumping Cat Litter. There is also a donate page on our website if you would like to help us get through this time.

The Animal Shelter relies mainly on our income from wellness clinics, spays, neuters, adoptions, grooming and donations from the public in order to survive. Without being able to provide those community services for income we will be struggling to operate. We realize everyone is struggling, and any and all donations will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you and we hope everyone stays safe and healthy during this difficult time. We hope to see you after the danger passes.
